BULL TERRIER CROSSES

This section will be used to display various Bull Terrier crosses looking for new homes in rescue centres around the country. Unfortunately, as a breed rescue, we can only help with the rehoming of full Bull Terriers ourselves but we would like to support the many other charities, animal rescue centres, etc, that are trying to find homes for any Bull Terrier crosses.

If you are a rescue centre and have a particular dog you would like featured on our website please email ann@bull-terriers.co.uk and we will be only too happy to help you.

RAZOR

razor5

  • Name: Razor
  • Age: 2 Years 7 months
  • Sex: Male
  • Breed: Bull Terrier & Staffie Cross
  • Size: Standard
  • Colour: White
  • Reason for rescue: Current owners Father is moving in and the flat is not big enough and he and resident Staffie keep fighting.
  • Neutered: Yes
  • Vaccinated: Yes
  • Medical history: Razor has a slight skin condition on his paws, when I comes up he licks them, current owner washes his paws in Malaseb shampoo and that sorts it also he has a healed hernia lump on his belly. Other than that he is a healthy boy.
  • Behavioural history: Razor does get on with the other household pets (Dog and a parrot) until they get more attention than him.
  • Summary: After speaking to his current owner it is obvious that she would keep him if it was not for his dislike of other animals, he is a really lively, friendly little chap that loves to be fussed, what Bullie don't, he would best be suited to being an only dog. The current owner told me that he was badly attacked by a full-grown Bullie when he was about 6 months old, since then he dislikes any other dog/animal.
He would need a male in the house as he seems to react better to a male's voice and commands, he has a good basic knowledge of commands i.e. sit, no etc.
He also loves big muddy puddles.
The current owner very rarely lets him off the lead due to his dog aggression but does sometimes, he is good off the lead, she said he is better with a male there.
He does not seem to have food aggression and is fed Bakers Lite.
When he first saw us he got very excited and did wee wee on the floor a bit and while he was trying to lick us he was snapping his teeth a bit, not in a vicious way.
Overall he is a lovely little dog just needs to interact and get used to other animals.

ZUKI

zuki1
zuki2
zuki3

  • UPDATE: Zuki had a health check with our vet this morning & is as fit as a fiddle! I have taken her out in the car the last couple of days & she has been absolutely fine. She wouldn't like to go into the actual front seats bit, but is happy to jump into the boot & be behind a dog guard. She has travelled happily with & without Buster in there with her. I'm now quite sure that car travel is not a problem. Her food aggression is only apparent with food which is in her bowl, she doesn't mind having treats given to her when Buster is sat next to her, so it's not really a problem at all really, we just give them their dinner in separate rooms. Finally, her chewing is not as bad as i was led to believe either. You do need tyo keep an eye on her but all in all she's a pretty calm wee dog.

I felt i should update as alot of the stuff i was informed of as problems & were subsequently added to her sheet, are really not problems at all. Certainly nothing that a responsible owner couldn't sort out!!

  • Name: Zuki
  • Age: 6 months
  • Sex: Female
  • Breed: Bull Terrier Cross
  • Size: Standard
  • Colour: Red and white
  • Reason for rescue: Owner is pregnant and the already has 2 other dogs.
  • Neutered: No
  • Vaccinated: Yes
  • Medical history: None known
  • Behavioural history: Excellent with other dogs, male and female however she is food aggressive with other dogs but not with humans. Zuki doesn't react to cats at all. She currently lives with a rabbit and a rat and doesn't bother with them either. She has no issues with household noise but is scared of large volumes of traffic and doesn't like going into a car.
  • Likes: Zuki likes to chew anything left lying around, mobile phones, remote controls, shoes, but she is only 6 months!
  • Dislikes: Cars. When taken in car she shakes with fear and is sick when she gets out of the car.
  • Area: Scotland
  • Summary: Zuki is a calm dog considering her age. She does not jump up, nip or mouth when people arrive at her house. Zuki currently lives with 2 other dogs, one of which is a 13 week old labradoodle puppy which gets very excited and jumps all over Zuki. Zuki is very tolerant of this.
Zuki does have an understanding of basic commands such as 'sit', 'leave' and 'no' and responds when her name is called. Zuki can be destructive if left alone outside of her crate but considering her age this is something that can be worked on.
Zuki looks more bullie than she appears in the pictures.

BANKS

banks1
banks2

  • Name: Banks
  • Age: 7 months
  • Sex: Male
  • Breed: Bull Terrier Cross with Staffie
  • Summary: Banks is already quite a big lad and will grow into a big, powerful dog. He is currently still with his owners but is looking for a new home.
Lives with cats but does like to pick them up and play with them, not necessarily aggressively.
Lives with a young bitch with no problems, hates the elderly male dog in the home and does attack aggressively
Lives with 12 year old child but can be a little mouthy.
Very, very full on and bouncy
Terrible on a lead, slightly better with a halti
    Food aggressive
Fairly good recall as very food orientated
    Clean in the house
Not desperately interested in other dogs whilst out, just wants to greet people
    Not used to a car

Banks needs an owner with experience of Bull breeds and who has the time to put in the training that Banks has been short of up to now. It will be part of the adoption agreement that Banks must be neutered as soon as possible.

If you are interested in this lad contact Lisa at lsd659@aol.com

TIGGER

tigger

  • Name: Tigger
  • Age: 12 months approx
  • Sex: Male
  • Breed: Bull Terrier Cross with Staffie
  • Size: Mini
  • Colour: Brindle and white
  • Reason for rescue: Not known.
  • Neutered: Unknown
  • Vaccinated: Unknown
  • Medical history: Not known.
  • Behavioural history: Tigger is as his name suggests....very bouncy! Tigger was a real live wire when he first arrived at Meadowgreen and appeared to know nothing about anything, poor boy. Everything was new to him, as if he was seeing things for the first time. However, the staff at Meadowgreen have shown him what the outside world is like and Tigger loves it! In fact Tigger loves everything and everyone! Give him a simple biscuit and Tigger will dance round and play with it for 5 minutes before eating it! Everything really is a joy to him now. Having said that Tigger has calmed down a lot over the past months and would now make someone a really special boy.
  • Likes: Everything!
  • Dislikes: Nothing, except possibly cats but this needs to be discussed with the kennel owner.
  • Area: Norfolk/Suffolk border
  • Summary: Tigger is a young male dog who has lots and lots of energy and would love to share his love of life with an owner who adored him. If you think you can match his enthusiasm for life then please consider Tigger, being in kennels is no life for any dog let alone one as happy and lively as Tigger. He just wants to have fun and make up for lost time!
Due to his exuberance for bouncing Tigger would be best rehomed as an only dog and with sturdy teenagers aged 15+.
If you think you have the right home for Tigger then please contact:

  • Size: Standard
  • Colour: Mostly tan
  • Reason for rescue: Amanda was abandoned by her previous owner.

  • Dislikes: Certain dogs, but seems to get on well with most that she meets.
  • Area: Norfolk/Suffolk border
  • Summary: This young girl has been in kennels far too long already and is desperate for a new family of her own. She has a lovely temperament and really deserves to be someone's pride and joy. CHARLIE

charlie1

Charlie’,

Charlie is an eight-month-old, male English Bull Terrier and Black Labrador Crossbreed. He is friendly with everyone he meets and loves to play with other dogs and swimming in local lakes. He knows lots of commands and is usually very responsive; occasionally he pretends he can’t hear! He is toilet trained and can be left alone for up to four hours without any problems

Charlie is a confident and intelligent dog, very playful, bouncy and extremely affectionate. His favourite dinner is chicken and vegetables mixed with pasta. He loves playing with his Kong and especially enjoys a game of hide and seek. He can be possessive over his food and items he claims as his, this will need to be addressed as part of his training. He will need at least two hours of off-lead exercise every day.

Charlie has unfortunately learnt to use his great intelligence to get his own way, and came to The Mayhew because his previous guardians could not cope with his bulling behaviour, biting and snapping to get his own way. He needs a new, confident guardian with lots of experience who is willing to take on a dog with issues and put in a lot of training, including training classes. He has not shown any aggression or spoilt behaviour whilst at The Mayhew, but this is because he needs a strong and confident leader-figure. If he spots a weakness, he will take advantage of it.

Charlie needs a patient and knowledgeable guardian, who will take a firm and consistent approach to putting him back on the right path without aggression or the use of fear. He cannot be home with children, though visiting children would be fine.

If you're interested in offering Charlie a perfect, fully committed, forever home or would like to know more about him please visit The Mayhew Animal Home any Tuesday to Friday between 1pm - 3.30pm

Please mention you found Charlie on the Bullies In Need website.

LARRY

Larry1 Larry2

Larry’,

Larry is a sixteen-month-old, male English Bull Terrier crossbreed, who came to The Mayhew on a recent rescue run. He is very friendly with everyone he meets and good with other dogs, on and off of his lead. He is an extremely playful dog, both with people and with other dogs. He is learning not to pull on his lead or jump up for affection, he is enjoying his training and will do anything for treats, so he is sure to be a quick learner. He will need to go to training classes. This happy dog is a lively and boisterous boy who is very active and will need one to two hours of off-lead exercise every day.

Larry loves giving kisses, being groomed and playing with toys, he lives for tennis balls!. He also loves the sound of his own voice. We do not yet know whether he is toilet-trained or can be left alone. We would prefer him to go to a home where someone will be around most of the day. He is looking for a new home with an experienced guardian who has owned Bulldogs or Bull breeds before. He could be homed with teenagers but not with younger children, though visiting children will be fine.

If you're interested in offering Larry a perfect, loving, fully committed, lifetime home or would like to know more about him please visit The Mayhew Animal Home any Tuesday to Friday between 1pm - 3.30pm

Please mention you found Larry on the Bullies In Need website.

DINGO

dingo

Dingo’,

Dingo is a English Bull Terrier x around 2 years old. This picture doesn't do him justice. He is a proper character and is full of beans. He loves to play and his favourite game is to drag tyres around the compound. Dingo would only be re-homed where they have knowledge of bull breeds - he is a powerful yet nice dog - and so suited for someone who is after a fun guy. As with most bull breeds - who just like their own company he would need to be the only pet. He is neutered and micro chipped. If u think u can give dingo a home then contact rain rescue or fill in the questionnaire and send it to lsd659@aol.com

Please mention you found Dingo on the Bullies In Need website.

TAZ

Taz

Taz’, is a 21 month old EBT X SBT. He was returned to us due to his owners not having the time for him that he required. As a result Taz has lacked some basic training and has deteriorated since coming back to us in April. He ideally needs some careful socialising with calm/well behaved dogs in order to curb his extreme excitement when seeing one! He would be best re-homed as the only pet due to this reason. The age of children we would re-home Taz with depends on the owners own circumstances and how much free time they have available in order to further Taz's training, and of course if they are used to bull breeds and their natures. We have begun teaching Taz how to walk properly on a lead and he sits at every doorway now (with a little bribe of a treat of course!) Owners need to be dedicated and patient in order to carry similar training on in a home environment.

If anyone is interested in Taz, please contact:

ASH

Ash

Ash’, is an eighteen-month-old, female, English Bull Terrier and Labrador crossbreed who came to The Mayhew from a local council pound. This happy young dog loves everyone she meets and is very loving and affectionate. A playful dog who loves her toys, especially ones she can tug on, she is active and bright and will need one to two hours of off-lead exercise every day.

Ash is good with other dogs but would benefit from more socialisation. She is good with children of all ages although might be a little too boisterous for toddlers. She could live with a cat if the cat didn't mind.

Ash is very intelligent, quick to learn and eager to please and her new guardians should take her to training classes to encourage and stimulate her. Her favourite treats are pigs ears and receiving praise and a good tummy rub.

Please mention you found Ash on the Bullies In Need website.

TAI

tai

Tai’, is an English Bull Terrier Cross. He is 7 yrs old and ntd. Tai is looking for a new home with an experienced owner, who has no children under 10 yrs old, and no small animals. It is possible that Tai would settle into a home with another dog if it was the right dog, as he is just learning to be sociable. Tai is a very sweet natured, loving lad, who needs lots of exercise and play time.

If you think you can give this lovely lad a good home, please call Shelley on 01903 742930 and mention you found Tai on the Bullies In Need website.

ALFIE

black and white bull terrier cross

Hi My names Alfie, I'm an English Bull Terrier Cross and I am 8yrs old. I came back to the rescue because my owner's circumstances changed and was unable to look after me any longer. I really dont like it in the kennels because I dont like being left on my own. I do have a tendency to nip the kennel staff's knees when they've taken me for a walk but I only do it because I know they're going to leave me on my own. I'm good on the lead but I do not like any other dogs or cats. I would suit a home where there was no young children, probably teenage up. Please give me chance!
